Claims Adjuster Training Needed

Adjusting skills are decreasing in the industry as more senior, experienced staff retire and fewer new people are entering the claims industry. The CLM and its member organizations (M Marsh is a fellow in CLM) recognize this as a challenge to the long term health of the industry. Midland Claims Service, Inc has long been a leader in industry recruiting and training, partnering with the State of Montana for the roll out of its Incumbent Worker Training Program.

The Summit was the first time Chief Claims Officers from more than 35 of the industry’s top insurance companies came together to discuss the current and future state of the claims industry. During the Summit, executives discussed the talent crisis in the industry and how best to develop future industry leaders. Adam Potter, Executive Director of the CLM announced the creation of the Claims College, which is being developed by more than 25 senior level insurance company and corporate professionals. The dual purpose of the Claims College is to provide a greater education experience and certification for current claims professionals while also attracting new talent to the claims industry.“As companies have reduced their internal training resources, there has been a significant lack of good educational opportunities for claims professionals — both those new to the industry and those experienced professionals looking to expand their knowledge and further their careers. This has led to the industry’s ongoing talent crisis that will only grow more severe as experienced professionals retire,” says Potter. “The CLM is facilitating the creation of the Claims College to help elevate the profession and provide educational opportunities for professionals of all experience levels.”Look for more information on the launch of the Claims College next week.About the CLMThe Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM) promotes and furthers the highest standards of claims and litigation management and brings together the thought leaders in both industries.
